Website Criticism 1

This website addresses the notion of 'digital native' and defines it's meaning.
The article is not long, there are only a few number of paragraphs written on the subject, however, there are many hyperlinks available throughout the text to allow the user access to more information.
One criticism which must be addresses with this website is the article only looks at 'digital natives' and barely touches on the digital immigrant notion, the opposing notion.
This particular website has similarities to a search engine and so I typed in 'digital immigration' to try and gain a wider range of info. However, I was directed back to the page on 'digital native' proving that this particular website is limiting in information on the subject.
Another criticism of the website is it's dependable source of information as it's open structure lends itself to unreliable content. This must obviously be considered when information from the website is used.
However, one positive aspect of the article is that it was updated and modified in February 2009 making this an incredibly up-to-date article.

  1. maybe because this website is mainly about 'digital natives', that is why so many hyperlinks are used. maybe it is allowing such natives to use the inet like we are supposed to?

  2. yes maybe, but it was the lack of information which made me think that the website was not too strong. The website is a large website which holds information on all topics, not just digital natives, hence why I found it strange that there was very little on other parts of Prensky's theory.

  3. Nice that you bothered to test out the site's useability Hannah. It seems though that you could be bringing in those unit terms here - produsage, hypertextuality, non-linearity (although it sounds like in your case circularity!)
